Win an e-bike for tracking your green and healthy travel

Residents of Warwick District can now win a Batribike electric bike worth up to £1,599 simply by tracking their active travel with the Choose How You Move in Warwick District challenge. The challenge, in partnership with BetterPoints, is completely free to join and participate in, and aims to encourage residents across the district to get active and choose a sustainable means of travel when out and about anywhere in the district – whether in their local area or when visiting and supporting the town centres.

Participants earn ‘BetterPoints’ for each sustainable journey they make, which can be converted to high street vouchers to redeem in their favourite big name or independent shops such as Zero Store, Greenbean, Bright Heart Holistics or Bread & Co, or at the weekly markets in Kenilworth and Warwick. Alternatively, points can be donated to a range of charities including Warwickshire Pride and The Myton Hospices.

To be in with a chance of winning a brand-new e-bike, residents just need to make sure they’re signed up to the challenge on the BetterPoints app and complete the e-bike quiz. To start earning rewards, residents just need to download the BetterPoints app from the App Store or Google Play, register and join the programme.

The Choose How You Move in Warwick District challenge has been running since January 2021 and was recently extended to May 2024 due to its success. 1,630 users have registered with the app, logging 1.1 million miles of sustainable travel, saving 257 tonnes in carbon emissions. Over 10 million BetterPoints have been earned so far, worth over £10,000 in redeemable vouchers.

The challenge is delivered by Warwick District Council in partnership with BetterPoints, an award-winning behaviour change app. The initiative complements the District Council’s aims to encourage active communities, improve air quality, and support town centres and the local economy. Users of the BetterPoints app also benefit from a boost to their health and fitness by monitoring their levels of physical activity through the app.

The challenge consists of locally focused campaigns like prizes and boosted rewards for green and healthy travel, plus special events such as TravelWise Week, during which Laura Quirke from Leamington Spa won the top prize of a European city break. Local businesses are encouraged to visit https://chym.betterpoints.uk/stories/local-traders to find out more about the free-to-join scheme and sign up to support it.
