Clerk’s Report March 2015

LAPWORTH PARISH COUNCIL REPORT

Reports were presented at the Lapworth Annual Parish Assembly by Lapworth School, the Lapworth Charity and Village Hall Committee together with the Parish, District and County Council reports.

Highlights from the school included were sporting and academic achievements as well as community involvement and progress with building works.  The Charity continues its primary aim of providing and maintaining almeshouses at Pound Close but also gives financial support to heating costs, chiropody and educational needs within the Parish.  The Lapworth Village Hall Committee carries on with its programme of fund raising and improvements that makes the Village Hall such an attractive venue.

Questions have been asked at the County Council about the feasibility of having Chessetts Wood Road included in the winter gritting programme to access Darley Green Road and roads gritted by Solihull.  Not a lot of hope was given that this will be possible but the Parish Council will continue with its endeavours to have this area included.

Parking outside the school was on the agenda.  The Parish Council is working with the school to identify options for easing congestion and improving safety at the beginning and end of the school day.

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England has released its final recommendations for new electoral boundaries for Warwickshire County Council, to come into effect in 2017Lapworth will be absorbed into new large rural division to be called “Lapworth and West Kenilworth”, stretching west from the Kenilworth right the way to the county boundary at Hockley Heath.
