LAPWORTH PARISH COUNCIL REPORT
The May meeting of Lapworth Parish Council saw Councillor Clive Henderson and Councillor Haydn Rees unanimously elected as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively. Councillor Corney, who had chosen not to stand for election as Chairman for the forthcoming year was thanked for his able leadership during his tenure.
There is currently an opportunity to join the Parish Council in representing and supporting the needs of the community. It was reported that, with effect from 6th June 2016, Warwick District Council had introduced charges for replacement bins as below:

There is also a delivery charge of £5.00 per order.

Plans for a new-look Post Office are now finalised. Lapworth Post Office will close on Monday 27th June at 17.30 and reopen, at its current location on Monday 18th July at 13.00. When the new branch opens, customers will benefit from a newly modernised Post Office service and longer opening hours:
Monday – Sunday: 09:00 to 21.00
The Dorridge Fun Run has passed through the leafy lanes of Lapworth. To date there have been no adverse reports, indeed a reported improvement in staggered road closures, communication and litter collection. However if you have any suggestions for improvement you would like to raise please contact the clerk. The Fun Run is held for charitable causes and welcomes applications from local groups. It has given the following guidance:
‘Organisations submit an application form (manually or electronically) before the end of September in respect of the following year’s event. This application is then considered sympathetically, bearing in mind that we usually have more requests than available places, to ensure it meets our standard criteria.
Typical characteristics of recent beneficiaries:
- Locally situated (Birmingham & Solihull)
- Community-based
- Human benefit (not animal causes, worthy though many are)
- Where there is a need to improve quality of life
- Willing and able to man a stall at the Summer Fair or offer human resource such as road marshals
- Prepared to raise funds
The above are not exclusive, but intended to give an idea of the profile of a prospective charity / worthy cause. Furthermore, we intentionally rotate or vary the beneficiaries to ensure many good causes receive funds year on year; we are always ready to consider applications from new bodies.
Any funds raised on the Fun Run by the charity are offered a 1:1 ‘matched funding’ arrangement as a financial incentive to encourage extra fund-raising, up to a £2,500 limit. Charities that actively engage in the day can therefore significantly enhance their share.’
